Katoni’s role in supporting Teekay

We supported Teekay on this asset in 2018 and this particular commission was to carry out a laser scan survey of 2 No. 12” pipe spools, create a 3D scan and produce drawings to support with offshore construction for destruct and installation.

Collaboration in action

Understanding the Teekay’s needs – While we were offshore carrying out other laser scan surveys, the construction and maintenance manager on the vessel asked us to conduct a laser scan of 2 No. 12” pipe spools which are part of the Produced Water on the vessel. One of the spools was to have new intermediate flanges fitted and the scope was to ensure the two new sections fitted correctly when installed.

Delivery –

The Katoni Way – We carried out a laser scan of the pipework spools in situ, processed the scans and created a 3D scan. The 3D scan then permitted us to create 2D CAD drawings of the pipe spools and superimpose 2D images from the 3D scan to cross check the isometric dimensions to ensure the pipe spools would fit correctly together.
