In addition, the company becomes the first business in the whole of the UK and Ireland to transition to new safety standard ISO 45001 leading the way in the oil and gas sector and in the North-east of Scotland.
Katoni Engineering provides Engineering, Procurement and Construction services in the North Sea oil and gas sector as well as having a base in Mexico and interests in Ghana.
The company was audited during May under the Achilles FPAL Verify Audit programme. The company was then audited by LRQA in June as part of the transition to the new ISO 45001 standard.
Both LRAQ audits and FPAL Verify are rigorous independent assessment of an organisation’s capability across several areas, including QHSE and Competence & Training. Forty major national and international oil and gas companies have selected Achilles FPAL Verify as their preferred industry audit programme.
Malcolm Wilson, Director of Achilles FPAL, said, “By participating in the FPAL Verify Audit programme, Katoni Engineering has demonstrated a clear commitment to meet the high QHSE and Competence & Training standards that the oil and gas industry demands.
The Achilles FPAL Verify programme includes an important and mandatory commitment to continuous improvement which meets the strict requirements of this industry. This will help put the company in the best possible position to secure a pipeline of work opportunities from major oil and gas buyers”.
Robin Critchard of Maersk Oil and Chair of the FPAL Verify Steering Group, said, “Achilles FPAL Verify provides critical information to enable an independent, fair and open procurement process. By encouraging collaborative use across the industry, it also reduces and removes duplication of effort for buyers and suppliers alike“.
James Bream, General Manager at Katoni Engineering, said, “We’ve been bold enough to say we are going to be different from the rest at Katoni. We’re going to be relentless in embedding QHSE in the culture of our business and make sure we are leading the way in the North-east.
Being a first mover on ISO45001 demonstrates our agility and commitment to being the best. Our high FPAL scores are an endorsement of how we work but we still believe there is more to come. This is a very exciting time for us, we’re ready to play our part in extending the life of the UKCS and helping achieve the 2035 sector vision safely”.Ends
