About the Asset

The Captain field lies approximately 90 miles north-east of Aberdeen, Scotland, in the Outer Moray Firth, in water depths of around 346 feet. The field includes; the wellhead protector platform (WPPA) and bridge linked platform (BLPA) which are both connected back to a floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) as well as two subsea manifolds tied back and connected to the platforms by a suite of pipelines.

Katoni’s Role in Supporting Chevron

Our close relationship with Chevron has enabled us to provide support with various multi-discipline work scopes. This work scope CHEV104, was Instrumentation specific and formed part of the Captain ICSS upgrade project. Katoni was required to as-build all the Fire & Gas Cause & Effect Diagrams to accurately represent the installed Honeywell FSC Controller Fire & Gas logic.

Collaboration in action:

Understanding Chevron’s needs & Delivery: Katoni were asked to complete the as-building work scope within a very demanding schedule to meet the Client’s FAT deadline. To satisfy the client’s requirements the Cause & Effect diagrams were issued in asset packages with staggered issue dates. In total, between the 3 assets, FPSO, WPPA & BLPA there were 154 Fire Zone Logic Maps and 154 Cause & Effect’s delivered.

The Katoni Way: Working closely with our client we were able to feed back FAT results and as-build the cause and effects for each asset package whilst testing continued on another. This allowed the schedule to be adhered to and prevented FAT impacting on internal project deadlines.

The CHEV104 Project in Numbers:

-          154 Fire Zone Logic Maps & 154 Cause & Effect Diagrams

-          £86,390 Total budget

-          1293 Man hours expended

-          1 project delivered on time and on budget
