Katoni’s role in supporting the client: A study was carried out that provided possible engineering solutions to reduce the Arc Flash Incident Energy on a number of switchboards which were found to have high Arc Flash Incident Energy Levels.

Understanding the client’s needs & delivery: Following an Arc Flash Study and subsequent Protection Settings Review carried out by Katoni on the platform’s electrical distribution, it was found that high Arc Flash Incident Energy Levels were present across a number of switchboards under different operating scenarios.
The Katoni Way: Each Arc Flash mitigation solution was evaluated against a set of criteria with information on cost and implementation gathered, where possible, from equipment vendors. Information from an offshore survey was used to determine common electrical tasks and their frequency to determine the frequency and type of interactions with the switchboard.
Using a combination of an implementation score, and survey interaction information, an Arc Flash mitigation recommendation was made for each switchboard.
